Reflecting on the last 3 Januarys since I have become a nomad. From Guatemala to Peru to Hong Kong, it has been an adventure filled with joy and challenges and awe and overwhelm and I wouldn’t change a single experience.

It’s been a year since I published my first blog post. Since then I have travelled through 3 countries in South America, made a quick trip to Greece, spent some time in Canada and moved to Hong Kong for a year. I have also looked back and reflected on my time in Kenya and doing to Camino de Santiago. To everyone who has subscribed to my little blog, thank you. I will continue to share my journey.
My time in La Paz, Bolivia was filled with an amazing guided tour, 3 wonderful afternoons exploring the city via the cable cars, lots of great food and one huge disappointment. I found the Bolivian people to be wonderful and La Paz to be loud, crowded, charming with lots of pigeons and lots of history to be learn. Plus really good coffee!
Travelling from Peru to Bolivia and learning lessons along the way. Overnight buses, challenging border crossing and delightful surprises in Copacabana.
Visiting Machu Picchu was something I have dreamed about for a long time. It was absolutely wonderful. Some of the realities were not what I expected. And some of the surprises exceeded my expectations. Travel is like that sometimes… unexpected and wonderful.
I loved living in Cusco, Peru for 3 months. Discovering all of the local spots and going on big ‘tourist’ adventures – the best of both worlds. Well-dressed dogs, crowded buses, amazing street food and unusual business practices – I enjoyed it all.
Finding joy in the journey to Moray, trying new things, meeting new friends in Pisac and trying so many types of new food, when Parker came to visit me in Peru.
Exploring Peru with Parker was magical. The Temple of the Moon and Lake Titicaca and discovering that the magic happens when things go wrong and you simply go with the flow. Also remember that the view is always worth the climb!
A few days in the Sacred Valley, exploring with a local guide and taking time to really learn the history and meet local people. The ruins at Ollantaytambo and Moray are spectacular, and travelling by scooter was the most fun.
A day in Pisac and travelling like a local. The Pisac Archaeological Ruins are worth a visit – incredible energy and breath-taking views.
